Wales centre Cory Allen suffers 'significant hamstring tear'

Cory Allen suffers 'significant hamstring tear'

Wales head coach Warren Gatland has revealed that Cory Allen is likely to miss the remainder of the Rugby World Cup through injury.

The hat-trick scoring centre damaged his hamstring in the second half of the Red Dragons' 54-9 win over Uruguay.

Having already been hit by numerous injury blows pre-tournament, including the loss of kicking-machine Leigh Halfpenny and Rhys Webb, Gatland saw his side further depleted in this afternoon's match at the Millennium Stadium.

Speaking after the game, the 52-year-old said: "Cory's got a significant tear in his hamstring and, at this stage, it looks like he'll definitely need to be replaced. He will be scanned on Monday."

Gatland was unable to give an assessment on the injuries suffered by Samson Lee, Aaron Jarvis, Liam Williams and Paul James until they undergo further scans, while Dan Lydiate has been given the all-clear to continue training following a blow to the head.

Wales face England at Twickenham next Saturday in a crucial Pool A clash.
