Bryan Habana: 'Jonah Lomu will never be beaten'

Bryan Habana claims that Jonah Lomu "will never be beaten", despite equaling the former New Zealand star's Rugby World Cup try-scoring record.

South Africa's Bryan Habana has suggested that he is not in the same class as New Zealand winger Jonah Lomu.

The Springboks flyer needs only one try to break Lomu's Rugby World Cup record of 15, but Habana has stated that he is only interested in team accolades.

However, Habana went further and claimed that the ex-All Blacks star "will never be beaten" in his eyes.

He told reporters: "I've always been a guy who lays my success and my personal achievements on the contribution it makes to the team. Personal achievements are always great but all that matters to me is the team winning and moving forward in the competition.

"He (Jonah) really changed the game and his contribution will never be beaten in my opinion.

"I have massive respect for him as a player and as a person; it only took him two tournaments to get to that record so he deserves a lot of credit and is a real legend of the game."

South Africa face Wales in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals at Twickenham on Saturday.
