Jonathan Humphreys warns Scotland to beware Leigh Halfpenny threat

Scotland assistant Jonathan Humphreys is well aware of the kicking threat provided by Wales full-back Leigh Halfpenny, as the two sides prepare to do battle this weekend.

Scotland assistant head coach Jonathan Humphreys has warned his players to avoid giving away any penalties against a wounded Wales side this weekend in fear of Leigh Halfpenny's kicking ability.

The full-back has scored 225 of his 430 points for the Red Dragons at the Six Nations, with over half of that total - 370 - coming from the boot.

Former Wales captain Humphreys is well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of this weekend's visitors to Murrayfield, knowing that any mistakes are likely to be punished.

"He's up there with the best in the world," he told reporters of Halfpenny's habit of splitting the sticks. "When you are looking at all these teams, the difference with Leigh is that he can probably kick them from 60 metres out.

"So everyone who plays Wales will say the same thing: 'You can't give away penalties because of him.' We need to temper our enthusiasm and intent."

Halfpenny has seven tries to his name at the Six Nations in a Wales jersey, as well as 17 conversions and 52 successfully-hit penalties.
