Vern Cotter unfazed by World Cup selection criticism

Head coach Vern Cotter says that he is unconcerned by criticism aimed towards Scotland's 31-man Rugby World Cup squad.

Scotland head coach Vern Cotter has said that he is not concerned by the criticism levelled at him following Scotland's 31-man squad announcement for the Rugby World Cup.

Questions were raised about the inclusion of John Hardie and Josh Strauss, both players born outside of Scotland and with limited international experience.

Hardie will earn his second cap for Scotland tonight against France, while Strauss does not qualify on residency until one day after the World Cup starts.

"It's people's right to disagree," Cotter told The Guardian. "Everybody has got an opinion. We are just focusing on what is best to move forwards.

"I don't expect everybody to agree but we've got ideas on how we would like to play and who are the best people to allow us to do that."

Scotland face South Africa, Samoa, Japan and the USA in Pool B.
