Italy prop Martin Castrogiovanni has been ruled out of their crucial Six Nations match with Scotland through injury.
The 33-year-old was bitten on the nose by a friend's dog and needed 14 stitches.
Italy and Scotland are both winless from their two opening games and meet in Edinburgh in what is expected to be a fight to avoid coming last this season.
Castrogiovanni has 109 caps for his country.
