France lock Pascal Pape banned for 10 weeks for kneeing Ireland's Jamie Heaslip

Pape banned for 10 weeks

France lock Pascal Pape will miss the rest of the Six Nations after he was banned for 10 weeks for kneeing Ireland's Jamie Heaslip in the back last weekend.

Pape was cited for the incident, which occurred during France's 18-11 defeat to Ireland at the Aviva Stadium last Saturday.

Now, it has been confirmed by RBS Six Nations that France coach Phillipe Saint-Andre will be without Pape for 10 weeks as he "had committed an act of foul play which merited a red card rather than the on-field yellow card given by the match officials".

Heaslip has been ruled out for four weeks due to the injury suffered in the incident.
