Eddie Jones dismisses England World Cup hopes

Jones dismisses England's World Cup hopes

Former Australia coach Eddie Jones has dismissed England's hopes of winning the World Cup in New Zealand this autumn.

Jones claims that the 2003 World Cup winners' half-backs are a major weakness as they bid to reclaim the William Webb Ellis Trophy.

"I don't think Ben Youngs is a test half-back. He is good on go-forward but when the ball gets slow he struggles to make decisions and I think Toby Flood is the same, which is a big weakness," Jones told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"That combination means I don't think they can win the World Cup."

England begin their World Cup preparations with a warm-up match against Wales at Twickenham on Saturday, August 6, ahead of their first World Cup Pool B match with Argentina on Saturday, September 10.
