Matt Giteau, Drew Mitchell call upon Jonny Wilkinson for World Cup advice

Australians Matt Giteau and Drew Mitchell admit to calling former Toulon teammate Jonny Wilkinson for advice on how to win the World Cup on English soil.

Australians Matt Giteau and Drew Mitchell have admitted to calling up Jonny Wilkinson to ask for advice on how to win a World Cup.

It was Wilkinson's drop goal that helped England claim final victory over Australia in 2003.

"We know Jonny reasonably well from our time in Toulon," centre Giteau told reporters.

"He's been open about it, about how it was one of the best things but also one of the most difficult things he has gone through with the fame and attention.

"We have been able to speak to him about the good and bad side of it all."

Toulon stars Giteau and Mitchell, who played with Wilkinson for a number of seasons at the French club, have recently rejoined Australia after the Wallabies relaxed their selection policy on overseas-based players in time for the start of the tournament.
