Wigan Warriors thrash Hull FC to go top of Super League

Wigan Warriors climb to the top of the Super League on points difference after running in 10 tries during their trashing of Hull FC at the DW Stadium on Friday.

Wigan Warriors ran in 10 tries on their way to hammering Hull FC 56-10 at the DW Stadium tonight to move top of the Super League on points difference.

The Warriors are level on 30 points with Leeds Rhinos and St Helens, but having the division's most prolific attack means that they climb to the summit.

That attack was on top form on Friday evening as George Williams scored a hat-trick and Dominic Manfredi touched down twice in the second half as Wigan recorded a comprehensive victory.

Hull held their own in the early stages as Fetuli Talanoa went over to cancel out Lewis Tierney's fourth-minute effort, but tries from Williams, Josh Charnley and Matty Smith put Wigan in command at the break.

Williams crossed twice more before the hour mark, either side of a Sam Powell score, while Smith booted six conversions to kick the dominant Warriors into a 40-4 lead over the 11th-placed side.

Manfredi made the scoreline even more emphatic with a quickfire double which started with a 66th-minute try, and although Liam Watts pulled one back for Hull, Scott Taylor ensured that the hosts would have the last laugh when he powered his way over on 79 minutes.
