Wigan Warriors sign Salford's Matty Smith

Wigan Warriors sign Matty Smith from Salford as Thomas Leuluai's replacement.

Wigan Warriors have signed Matty Smith from Salford, with the half-back available to make his debut against Wakefield tomorrow.

Wigan had already lined up the ex-St Helens man as Thomas Leuluai's replacement for next season.

However, with Leuluai's knee injury keeping him out until mid-August at the earliest, Warriors were forced to act fast. Smith will come straight into the team to take on the Wildcats at Belle Vue this Sunday.

Official confirmation is expected when Shaun Wane names him in his 19-man squad.

Smith will not be able to play against Leeds in the Challenge Cup semi-final next week.
