Wigan Warriors half-back Sam Powell to miss Brisbane Broncos clash

Wigan Warriors half-back Sam Powell has been ruled out of Saturday's World Club Challenge clash with Brisbane Broncos after accepting a one-match ban.

The 22-year-old was charged following a tackle on Huddersfield Giants prop Eorl Crabtree last weekend.

Warriors coach Shaun Wane had been eager to contest the punishment, but Powell instead entered a guilty plea.

Powell was forced to miss a match at last year's World Club Challenge due to an ankle injury.
