Huddersfield Giants youngster Ronan Costello "in critical condition"

Huddersfield youngster "critical" in hospital

Huddersfield Giants academy player Ronan Costello is in a critical condition in hospital after being hurt in an Under-19 match.

Saturday's game against Salford was abandoned and Costello, an 18-year-old who plays in centre and back row, was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

"Huddersfield Giants academy player Ronan Costello remains in a critical condition in Leeds General Infirmary," a club statement said.

"The club respectfully asks that all supporters respect the wish for privacy and sensitivity for the family at such a difficult time."

Costello joined the Giants last year after successful spells at Brighouse Rangers and Lindley Swifts.
