Paul Anderson hoping for instant Huddersfield Giants response

Paul Anderson admits that Huddersfield Giants 'let themselves down' when losing heavily against Leeds Rhinos in the Challenge Cup last weekend.

Huddersfield Giants head coach Paul Anderson has talked up the importance of his side getting off to a strong start in this evening's clash against Castleford Tigers.

Both teams suffered heavy defeats in the Challenge Cup last weekend, although attention is now firmly fixed on picking up Super League points.

Castleford can move above their opponents into fourth place with a win at The Jungle, but Anderson is eager to see his men bounce back from Saturday's disappointing defeat at Leeds Rhinos in the best manner possible.

"We have got to come out all guns blazing," he is quoted as saying by The Huddersfield Daily Examiner. "Castleford are only a point behind us, but I like playing there because it is a tight pitch and the fans are loud and it is a great opportunity to go there and play well.

"The players and myself, as coach, all put in our worst performance of the season on Saturday. I have put my hand up and said I got out-coached and I take responsibility for that.

"We let ourselves down and when someone said after the game that it had been over as a contest after 20 minutes, I had to say that it had felt more like five minutes – Leeds played very well, but we failed to go with them."

The Giants have won four of their seven games on the road so far this campaign.
