Fans evacuated from Castleford stand

Fans had to be evacuated from part of the Castleford Tigers' Wish Communications Stadium following safety concerns this evening.

The home side were playing the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats when the stadium announcer called for supporters to exit the Princess Street Stand as it was thought to be unsafe.

Yorkshire Radio reported through their Twitter feed that the evacuation may have been due to a floodlight coming loose.

The incident resulted in the game finishing early, but the 37-16 win for Wakefield is likely to stand.
