Giuseppe Rossi's grandfather switches support to USA after grandson's Italy snub

Rossi's grandfather switches allegiance to USA

The grandfather of Giuseppe Rossi has revealed that he will be supporting the USA during the World Cup in Brazil after his grandson was omitted from Italy's squad.

The Fiorentina forward slammed suggestions that he was unfit after Cesare Prandelli left him out of the 23-man party.

Bruno Petrocelli told RAI Radio 2: "What Prandelli has done is a travesty. He's raised my grandson's hopes, then he's betrayed him.

"I'm going to support the USA because there are traitors in Italy. It's upset all of us because we didn't expect it."

Rossi only recently returned to action after recovering from a knee injury.
