Nicola McLean tweets in defence of Ched Evans

McLean tweets Evans support

Glamour model Nicola McLean has defended convicted rapist Ched Evans amid reports that Oldham Athletic want to sign the footballer.

The former Sheffield United forward has been searching for a new club after he was released from prison in October for serving half of a five-year sentence for raping a 19-year-old woman in a hotel.

League One Oldham were believed to be close to signing the 26-year-old, but after thousands of people signed a petition against it, the club have delayed their decision.

McLean gave her thoughts on the issue by tweeting: "Ok let me get this right! After you leave prison are you not allowed to get a job? Or is that rule reserved only if you kick a ball ?

"Mike Tyson 3 years for rape went straight back to boxing and a movie star #rolemodel ? and he maintains his innocence.

"Luke McCormick killed two brothers while drink driving and was later appointed captain of Plymouth argyle so is he ok to be a role model?"

Numerous sponsors have threatened to walk away from Oldham should they decide to sign Evans.
