Newcastle's Danny Simpson 'visited by police over ex-girlfriend complaint'

Newcastle United full-back Danny Simpson was reportedly visited by police following a complaint made by his ex-girlfriend, who allegedly received a threatening phone call.

The 26-year-old's former partner Stephanie Ward, who has an 18-month-old daughter with the footballer, is thought to have claimed that she received contact from an unknown person.

It is understood that while an official complaint has not been made, Greater Manchester Police requested that officers in Northumbria visit Simpson, who has been issued with a Police Information Notice, according to The Mirror.

Simpson started dating The X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos following his split from Ward.
