UEFA confirms Samir Nasri suspension

UEFA confirms that Samir Nasri is banned from football for six months after taking a drip treatment while on holiday.

UEFA has confirmed that Samir Nasri has been banned from football for six months after taking a drip treatment while on holiday.

The Frenchman took a prohibited amount of the drip, which can be given in doses outlined by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), while in a Los Angeles hotel room in 2016.

The treatment is not banned outright by the WADA, whose rules state a 50ml infusion limit per six-hour period for an active athlete.

Nasri was the subject of an investigation by Spanish officials after the former Manchester City midfielder allegedly received 500 millilitres of hydration in the form of sterile water containing micronutrient components.

The 30-year-old, who is now without a club after leaving Antalyaspor, was on loan at Sevilla from City when he was alleged to have had the drip.
