Liverpool's Dejan Lovren reveals he could have been a tennis player

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren reveals that he would have been a tennis player had his career in football not worked out.

Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren has revealed that he could have been a tennis player if his football career never came to fruition.

The 25-year-old has been thrown straight into the heart of Liverpool's defence after joining from Southampton in the summer.

However, the Croatian international has revealed during a Twitter Q&A that his career could have taken a different path.

When asked by a fan what he would have done if he had not become a footballer, Lovren said: "A tennis player - I think I would have been good enough to be a tennis player."

Lovren has competed in all five of Liverpool's games this season, the most recent being in last night's 2-1 victory over Ludogorets Razgrad in their opening Champions League Group B game at Anfield.
