Everton fans unveil anti-Margaret Thatcher banner against Arsenal

Everton fans hold aloft an anti-Margaret Thatcher banner on the eve of her funeral during their goalless draw with Arsenal.

A group of Everton supporters expressed their anger at the late Baroness Thatcher on the eve of her funeral.

The Toffees showed their solidarity with Merseyside rivals Liverpool by displaying 'JFT96' as a tribute to the Reds fans that died at the Hillsborough stadium in 1989 on the side of the banner, which was held aloft during last night's goalless draw against Arsenal.

The sign read: "You took our milk, but you'll never take our pride. Rot in hell Maggie. From the whole of Merseyside."

The banner referred to the ex-Prime Minister's decision to remove free milk for schoolchildren between the ages of seven and 11 while acting as Education Secretary.

Many Merseyside residents also blame the former conservative politician for playing a part in the cover-up of the Hillsborough disaster.
