Eriksson opens up about sex scandal

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has opened up about the affair he had with the PA of then-FA chief executive director David Davies, Faria Alam.

The Swede has spoken about the sex scandal in his autobiography, which is being serialised in the Daily Mail, claiming that he would regularly meet up with Alam in hotels in secret.

Months after they began their tryst, Davies contacted Eriksson informing him that a national newspaper had got wind of the affair.

"Faria's phone rang," Eriksson wrote. "It was David. She went out of the room to take the call. I don't know exactly what she said, but when she returned she was visibly shaken.

"I told her to remain calm and not to do anything drastic. Late that night, she went back to her place. She was worried, I remember, that paparazzi would be standing outside the hotel.

"Soon afterwards the newspaper published its scoop that I'd had an affair with Faria Alam. I was convinced that I could ride out whatever storm would follow."

Eriksson is currently the manager of Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F.
