A report claims that a Burnley fan was stabbed outside the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium ahead of the club's Europa League playoff first leg at Olympiacos.

A Burnley fan was stabbed before the club's Europa League defeat to Olympiacos in Athens on Thursday night, according to a report.

According to the Daily Mail, the Clarets supporter required stitches after being set upon with a knife outside the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium.

The report goes on to state that three other fans from Burnley's travelling support were badly beaten and robbed in Piraeus.

Furthermore, 23 Clarets fans were reportedly arrested by Greek police for allegedly being drunk, disorderly and refusing to board coaches provided by the club.

Burnley endured a tough night in Greece as they fell to a 3-1 defeat against Olympiacos, leaving their hopes of reaching the Europa League group stage in disarray.
