Lionel Messi's camp 'angry after Barcelona star used in political endorsement'

Lionel Messi's camp are reportedly angered by a political party in Guatemala, who have used the Barcelona star's image in their election campaign without permission.

Lionel Messi's camp are reportedly unhappy with a Guatemalan political party after the Barcelona star's image was used in their campaign without permission.

A banner associated with the Partido Patriota, which is identified with the colour orange, featured an image of Messi wearing Barca's orange third kit with a speech bubble that read: "The best team is orange. On the 6th of September vote for the [Partido] Patriota of Jacaltenango, the best team."

According to Sport, Messi's management company responded to the political endorsement by stating via EFE that "nobody has authorised the use of the image of the player for this political party or any other", and added that legal action can be taken if necessary.

The party has reportedly stated that the poster is not part of their official election campaign and that those responsible in the rural town of Jacaltenango could face punishment.
