Antoine Griezmann posts controversial blackface photo on social media

Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann has caused controversy on social media after posting a photograph of himself in 'blackface' as part of a fancy dress costume.

The Frenchman, who was imitating an NBA All-Star basketball player at a 1980s-themed party, received backlash from other social media users for the post.

The striker posted a follow-up message, saying: "Calm down guys, I'm a fan of the Harlem globetrotters and the good times... It's a tribute."

Griezmann, who was close to a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window, is now reportedly being monitored by Barcelona.

The forward has struggled for form this term, having only scored five goals in La Liga.
