Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Matthew Ghent handed restraining order

Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Matthew Ghent has reportedly been handed a restraining order banning him from coming into contact with his ex-girlfriend.

Ghent constantly sent his former partner text messages and around 70 emails, as well as booked a holiday for them both despite her ending the relationship, Northampton Magistrates' Court has heard.

The judge branded the former England youth international a 'true stalker' following revelations that he drove his ex-girlfriend to the brink of suicide, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports have claimed that Ghent was also given a 10-week suspended prison sentence.
