Arsene Wenger 'bans Arsenal players from smoking on club duty'

Wenger 'introduces smoking ban'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly introduced a smoking ban on his players following the recent incident involving goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

The Polish shot-stopper is believed to have been fined £20,000 after he was caught puffing on a cigarette in the dressing room following the Gunners' 2-0 defeat to Southampton on New Year's Day.

Wenger has confirmed today that Szczesny has apologised for his actions, but the Frenchman is reportedly planning to stamp down on his players smoking while on club duty.

According to The Times, Wenger has warned that if any player is caught smoking, they will be forced to train with the youth team for the rest of the season.

Jack Wilshere has also sparked controversy for smoking after he was previously snapped twice puffing on a cigarette.
