Corbyn 'signed motion backing Arsenal as best team'

New Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn reportedly once signed a motion backing Arsenal to be considered the best football team in the world.

The 66-year-old has been under the microscope since being elected Labour leader at the weekend.

While his policies have dominated most of the headlines, it appears as though the MP is a football fan, and in particular, an Arsenal supporter.

According to 101greatgoals.com, Corbyn, whose Islington constituency is where Arsenal Football Club are based, signed a motion in 2004 from fellow politician Brian Sedgemore.

The motion read: "That this House believes that Arsenal is the best club football team in the world at the moment and admires them for the fluency and poetry that they have brought to the beautiful game."

That year was when Arsenal won the Premier League title following an unbeaten season.
