Sam Oldham returns home from Commonwealth Games

England's gymnastic ace Sam Oldham leaves the Commonwealth Games after suffering an ankle injury on Tuesday.

England gymnast Sam Oldham has returned home from the Commonwealth Games after an ankle injury brought an end to his participation in Glasgow.

Oldham will miss this afternoon's floor final after suffering ligament damage in performing a Draselescu vault in Tuesday's team competition.

The 20-year-old has since left the Athletes' Village and returned to Nottingham for rehabilitation.

He had helped England secure gold in the team event and joined his teammates for the medal ceremony.

Today's floor contest is scheduled to begin at 3pm.
