Woods shares US Open lead

Tiger Woods is well-placed to end his four-year wait for a 15th major title following Friday's play at the US Open.

The 36-year-old is tied for the lead on one-under par in San Francisco, alongside the experienced duo of Jim Furyk and David Toms.

Woods bounced back from a run of three consecutive bogeys on the front nine to salvage a level-par 70.

The firm and fast conditions at the Lake Course have taken their toll on the field and the American trio are the only players under par at the halfway stage.

Defending champion Rory McIlroy missed the cut after carding a 73, which left him two shots short on 10-over.

World number one Luke Donald is also out.
