Ian Poulter "very excited" ahead of Ryder Cup duel

Ian Poulter says that he is "very, very, very excited" ahead of his Ryder Cup foursomes match.

Ian Poulter has said that he and Justin Rose are "comfortable" with each other's game ahead of their Ryder Cup foursomes match against Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker.

The 36-year-old spoke of his excitement ahead of the sport's most fabled competition, declaring that Jose Maria Olazabal's captaincy, coupled with their playing for the memory of Seve Ballesteros, means that it "doesn't get any bigger or better".

When asked how he was feeling on the practice range, Poulter told Sky Sports News: "Very, very, very excited. This is as excited as I've ever been.

"I'm playing with my good mate against Tiger and Stricker. The captaincy of Ollie, with Seve on the bag. It doesn't get any bigger and better.

"I'm very comfortable with Justin's game, he's very comfortable with my game. We've looked at the gold course, I'll be teeing off one. We've just got to back each other up. It's all getting it into position, giving yourself chances and taking them when they come around."

Poulter was the highest points scorer in the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla, Kentucky.
