Rory McIlroy relishing focus from American team

McIlroy happy to be on US radar

Rory McIlroy has insisted that he is ready to be targeted by the US team at this weekend's Ryder Cup.

Tiger Woods revealed that the hosts are extra motivated to beat the world number one, whom they consider to be Europe's dangerman at Medinah.

Rather than shirk the pressure, McIlroy has accepted the challenge and said that he will take on all comers in Chicago.

"Whoever wants to take me on, they can take me on," he said.

"I just want to go out and get a point for the team and whether that's going out first or fourth or in the middle really doesn't make a difference to me.

"And it doesn't make a difference who I play. I'm going to go out there and give it my best to win that point."

Former Europe captain Colin Montgomerie has admitted that he would fear for McIlroy should he come up against Woods in Sunday's round of singles.
