1443 Garcia and Noren go four shots ahead with six holes played. Europe lead by one, two, three and four shots in the four matches at this point.

1441 McIlroy makes it all blue on the scoreboard by holing out on the eighth to give him and Poulter a one hole lead and Europe the advantage in all four matches.

1433Β Watson and Simpson make a mess of the seventh and that allows McIlroy and Poulter to draw level in the match. Garcia and Noren then go three up after five as Europe take control.

1423Β The blue tide continues at seven. That makes it three holes in a row for Stenson and Rose.

1418 McIlroy drives the 380-yard par four sixth. Poulter is short with the eagle putt but the Northern Irishman sinks his effort to claw a shot back and trail by one.

1413Β Fleetwood makes his birdie putt at three and it is enough to give Europe the edge in that match by one shot. They now lead in three of the four afternoon foursomes.

1409 Stenson makes his birdie on six as Europe go two shots ahead in this match. They lead in two but are all square in a third. The United States lead in one.

1406Β Noren puts his paring two in front of Mickelson and DeChambeau byΒ sinking his birdie putt on three.

1401 Fowler finds the crowd with his tee shot at the sixth as the Americans suffer more woe under pressure from the home team.

1357 Stenson and Rose win the fifth thanks to the Swede's chip which finishes close to the hole and go one up over Johnson and Fowler. That puts Europe 2-1 ahead on the course.

1347 Garcia and Noren win the second hole with the Swede getting Europe ahead in his match against Mickelson and DeChambeau.

1343 McIlroy misses a putt on three as he and Poulter slip to two behind against Watson and Simpson.

1339Β Furyk was pleased with the way the morning had gone, telling Sky Sports: "I was real excited with the guys. I didn't get to see everyone because some guys were still on the golf course. We wanted to get more groups on the golf course (in the afternoon)."

1334 Garcia goes close with a birdie putt on the first and he and Noren remain all square with Mickelson and DeChambeau.

1323 Poulter finds water with his first tee shot and he and McIlroy trail Watson and Simpson as a result. Two other matches are all square with the final foursome yet to start.

Tommy Fleetwood

1255 "We are only halfway through the day so you have to keep going but, for me, I could talk about Fran all day," Fleetwood told Sky Sports.
"It was pure class. To have a partner like Fran is amazing. Those last few holes and the pressure you feel, you can see the leaderboard, and us being together that is the Ryder Cup, that feeling on 15 and 16."
Molinari added: "We both played very well. We had a couple of moments when we had to reset, start again and get the crowd going a little bit and we need to get some points back this afternoon."

1249 Thomas was full of praise for his partner, who carded six birdies in total. "We did so well that first nine, 10 holes. We both had looks. For the most part he was tearing it up and it was enjoyable to watch," Thomas told the Golf Channel.

1246 Fleetwood and Molinari give Europe their first point with a three and one win over Woods and Reed.

1238 Spieth holes his putt on 18 as he and Thomas gave America a third point with a one up win over Casey and Hatton.

1226 The afternoon foursomes are announced, bringing Henrik Stenson, Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia, Alex Noren, Bubba Watson, Webb Simpson Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau into action for the first time.

1217 Rahm misses a putt on 18 and America go 2-0 up as a result.

1214 Molinari finds water on the 15th with his second shot and Europe sink further into trouble but Fleetwood is just off the edge of the green with his second.

1207 Things looked bad for Rose and Rahm on 18 when the Englishman put the second shot over the back of the green and into the water. With the Americans safely on the green it was advantage to them.

1202Β "We believe in each other, we know we are both playing well," Johnson told the Golf Channel when asked about his partnership with Fowler. "We did a really good job of both not being out of the hole and that is what you have to do in team golf."

1159 Fleetwood could have mitigated the American dominance by nudging Europe ahead in the fourth match, but his close-range putt was off target.

1155 The US look poised to record their second point as Thomas birdies the 15th to edge his pair into a one-hole lead with three to play.

1146 At 4&2 down, McIlroy and Olesen concede the third match to Johnson and Fowler and the US have one Ryder Cup point on the board.

1140 What did we say about fine margins? Rahm's putt that lipped out on 14 comes back to haunt him as the US level the first match, where all the best action has been, with a birdie from Finau.

1137 Johnson misses a chance to win the second match as his birdie putt on the 15th drifts wide. The US are still 3up, though, and it looks done and dusted.

1105Β How did that not go in? Rahm on the 14th with a putt to win the hole and go two up with four to play. And the ball just goes all round the lip of the hole and stays above ground. Could that be one of those "fine margins" that is looked back on at the end of the day?

1052 Speaking of bursting bubbles, Casey has wiped the smile off Spieth's face with an approach shot that sets up birdie on the 12th. He makes the putt and the US lead is cut to one hole. Don't call it a comeback!

1045 Rose's bubble bursts on the 13th as Koepka reduces Europe's lead with a birdie from some distance.

1042 America pull two holes clear in the second match as Johnson drains a birdie on the 12th. McIlroy hangs his head – plenty of work to do.

0939Β Finally... a breakthrough in the second match as Denmark's Olesen birdies from four feet. Europe are 2up, 1up and 1up in three groups, while the US lead the third by three.

0936 Spieth birdies yet again to push the US on to 3up in the third match.

0852 Finau chips in from around 20 feet to win the sixth hole, meaning Europe are no longer 1up in the first match. Three groups are all-square and the US pair of Thomas and Spieth lead in the third.

0843 There's quite a contest developing in the fourth group.Β Reed has an opportunity for an eagle on the third but his chip goes past the hole, and Molinari duly sinks his putt to halve the hole.

0813 Europe are 1up in match four after Woods misses his birdie putt as Molinari holes his.

0810 "It's an opportunity – it's the best moment of your life. Go out and use this to be someone that all of Europe gets behind," says Europe captain Thomas Bjorn to Sky Sports.

0755 It's Tiger time. Four very different characters in the fourth group: Masters winner Reed soaks up the boos before lifting an excellent shot down the fairway, Woods goes slightly to the left, Fleetwood is in similar territory and ice-cold Italian Molinari whacks it down the middle.

0752 Rose finds the reeds (the Patrick Reeds?) on the par-five third hole. Meanwhile, Olesen has halved the second with a good up-and-down.

0730 First blood to Europe! Rose makes birdie and the hosts are 1up.

0728 Next up on the first tee are Johnson and Fowler, against McIlroy and Olesen. Fowler launches the second US pair's first shot but finds rough while Johnson, to a chorus of 'wheeeeeey' on his practice swings, pitches straight down the fairway. Olesen hits the water but McIlroy goes down the middle.

0719Β After a sumptuous approach shot from Ryder Cup rookie Rahm, Koepka pitches his attempt up to go just as close to the hole. Not to be outdone, Rose lands his within a couple of feet of the pin.

0715 Cheers go up before Rose pitches Europe's first tee shot and it lands well, but Rahm's follow-up is even closer to the green.

0710Β And we're off! Finau drives the first tee shot and it's not a great effort as the ball lands on the edge of the water. Koepka has better luck by finding the fairway.

0700Β A little bit of admin first. The fourballs begin in 10 minutes, the first pairing for Europe is Justin Rose and Jon Rahm. They take onΒ Brooks Koepka and Tony Finau. Then it is Rory McIlroy/Thorbjorn Olesen v Dustin Johnson/Rickie Fowler, Paul Casey/Tyrrell Hatton v Jordan Spieth/Justin Thomas and Francesco Molinari/Tommy Fleetwood v Tiger Woods/Patrick Reed.

0655Β The stands are packed, the atmosphere is amazing, the Ryder Cup is ready to start. Just 15 minutes to go. What will happen over the next three days? One thing is for certain – there will be drama!
