It's all square between Nicolas Colsaerts and Dustin Johnson in their Ryder Cup singles encounter at Medinah.

A fantastic approach to the ninth green has helped Nicolas Colsaerts to square his match with Dustin Johnson at the turn.

Johnson took the lead after the first hole when Colsaerts pushed his par putt wide and conceded the hole to the American.

However, Johnson shot a double bogey at the fourth and the Belgian was able to level the match.

Johnson found himself in the trees off his tee shot at the fifth, but still managed to make the green and give himself an opportunity for an eagle.

He was not able to take advantage and Colsaerts rolled in for a half.

The American reclaimed the lead with a birdie at the par-four fourth hole, but Colsaerts stiffed his approach to the ninth to put pressure on Johnson.

He found the bunker with his approach and could not pitch in from the trap to halve the hole.
