Tiger Woods concerned by rough at Royal Lytham & St Annes

Woods: 'Rough is unplayable'

Tiger Woods has claimed that some of the rough at Royal Lytham & St Annes is "unplayable" ahead of the British Open this week.

The American recently revealed that the Open is his favourite major tournament but admitted that he is concerned by some parts of the course.

When asked about the rough at the golf course, Woods replied: "Oh my God, it's just that you can't get out of it. The bottom six inches is so lush.

"The wispy stuff we've always faced at every British Open, but at the bottom it's almost unplayable in some places.

"I've never seen the rough this high or thick and dense."

Woods will be bidding to win his fourth Open Championship when the competition begins on Thursday.
