Rosberg investigated over 'qualifying breach'

Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg is under investigation after allegedly breaching rules during qualifying for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Saturday.

The 31-year-old is believed to have exceeded the maximum time between both safety car lines before going on to qualify second behind teammate and championship rival Lewis Hamilton.

A statement read: "Alleged breach of Article 27.5 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, exceeding the maximum time set by the FIA between the Safety Car line after the pit exit and Safety Car line before the pit entry at 13.05."

Rosberg could face a grid penalty if the stewards' office deems him guilty of the rule breach.
