Report: Sergio Perez McLaren future under threat

Sergio Perez could lose his drive at McLaren for next year, according to reports.

Sergio Perez's future at McLaren seems far from certain as the team are considering young Danish racer Kevin Magnussen for the seat, according to reports.

The Woking-based team have yet to confirm their driver lineup for 2014 and while Jenson Button is thought to be sure of a drive, Sky Sports News claims that the Mexican could lose his place to Magnussen.

His prospects were done no favours when team boss Martin Whitmarsh described Perez's ninth place in Abu Dhabi on Sunday as a "disappointing result".

Magnussen is thought to have impressed McLaren at July's young driver test at Silverstone as well as winning the Formula Renault 3.5 Championship.

Perez languishes in 12th place in the drivers' standings, amassing 35 points in 16 races so far this season.
