Jenson Button has said that he is confident of repeating his Melbourne victory in Malaysia this Sunday.

The McLaren driver took the chequered flag in the opening race of the new Formula 1 season last weekend.

Button believes that the win was just the start his team needed but is refusing to get ahead of himself.

"We always said that if he had a good winter we would start the season on a high and we have done exactly that," said the 32-year-old. "The last two seasons have been tricky at the start but we have proved we are strong from the word 'go' and it can only help us for the rest of the year.

"You can't get carried away; this is one out of 20 races. I am in a great place with the team and feel so at home in the car. Hopefully we will see some more of this year."

The 2009 world champion said that he and teammate Lewis Hamilton, who finished second in Australia, feel in sync with the new car.

"I cannot see any reason why we cannot get this car working in the heat as well as we did in the cooler conditions," he added. "We have a very good understanding of the car already but there is still more to come."

Button obtained three Grand Prix victories last season.
