Lewis Hamilton makes an impressive start in China be securing the fastest time in the first practice session ahead of this weekend's Grand Prix.

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton finished the first Chinese Grand Prix practice session in the fastest time.

The British driver completed the circuit 1.010 seconds quicker that Mercedes' Nico Rosberg in the damp conditions in China, while McLaren teammate Jenson Button finished in eighth spot.

Malaysian Grand Prix winner Fernando Alonso slumped to 11th spot, with his Ferrari counterpart Felipe Massa finishing just behind him.

Michael Schumacher managed to reach the end of the track in the third fastest time with Sauber's Sergio Perez, who came second in Malaysia, securing fourth in the practice rankings.
