Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel takes pole position in Montreal, with Lewis Hamilton second.

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel will be on pole for tomorrow's Canadian Grand Prix after seeing off the challenge of McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and championship leader Fernando Alonso.

The 24-year-old German posted the best lap of 1 minute 13.784 seconds.

Despite clocking the fastest time in yesterday's first practice session, Hamilton was unable to get within 0.3 seconds of Vettel's time in Montreal today.

Ferrari driver Alonso was 0.064 seconds behind Hamilton. Mark Webber, Nico Rosberg, Felipe Massa were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Michael Schumacher will start in ninth position, with Jenson Button 10th.
