McLaren confident of improving pit-stops for British Grand Prix

McLaren sporting director Sam Michael insists thatpit-stops will be without any errors in this weekend's British Grand Prix.

McLaren sporting director Sam Michael is adamant that they will not succumb to pit-stop errors during this weekend's British Grand Prix.

The Surrey-based team have been criticised for their clumsy pit-stops during the season so far but have since practised 800 tyre changes ahead of this Sunday's race at Silverstone.

"We had the fastest stationary time in Montreal and improved that in Valencia with the 2.6sec stop," said Michael.

"But our target is not the fastest stationary time but the fastest average. Our target is three-second stops consistently. On Monday we completed 800 pit-stops with no faults at all."

McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton currently sits third in the Championship standings, while his teammate Jenson Button resides in eighth.
