Jenson Button has revealed that "everything switched off" in his McLaren after he collided with his teammate on the opening lap of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Lotus duo Pastor Maldonado and Romain Grosjean crashed in front of Fernando Alonso on lap one, before the Spaniard spun behind them, wiping out the 2009 world champion.
The Briton told BBC Sport: "Fernando Alonso's front was coming around but I didn't know he was spinning, he hit the rear tyre, the car jumped and came down aggressively and everything switched off.
"I love coming here. Whatever the result it is such a special race. I enjoy the circuit but it doesn't work out for me often."
Button has never been on the podium at his home Grand Prix, finishing fourth on three occasions.
The race was won by reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton, with Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel joining him on the podium.
