Lewis Hamilton admits that his performance in qualifying for the British Grand Prix was not up to the standard he expects.

Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he is disappointed with his performance in qualifying for the British Grand Prix.

Hamilton only managed to finish eighth during a rain-delayed qualifying session at Silverstone.

The McLaren driver said: "I am not happy. Eighth is not the best position but that is life. I struggled a lot and we were skidding all over the place.

"We will try and understand why and fix it for tomorrow. The fans have been great, they have been very patient and were so supportive. Unfortunately we did not get the front row but we can still push through tomorrow."

Hamilton will be desperate to chase down Fernando Alonso in pole position as he looks to claim vital championship points on home soil.
