Alonso given 20-place grid penalty

Fernando Alonso has been given a 20-place grid penalty ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.

A fifth engine has been fitted in Alonso's McLaren car, triggering an automatic 10-place penalty, and he has been given two further five-place penalties after new elements were fitted in the car.

This means that he will start the race at the back of the grid, and it looks likely that he will also be given a time penalty.

Alonso could be given different levels of time penalties depending on how fast he qualifies.

He drove 17th fastest in the first practice session.
