Now Hamilton rumoured to be eyeing MotoGP team stake

Lewis Hamilton has become the latest Formula 1 icon linked with potential MotoGP team ownership.

The seven-time world champion turned heads at Monza by arriving on a Ducati sporting MotoGP-style livery and the number 1, underlining his long-standing passion for motorcycles.

According to Auto Motor und Sport, Hamilton is now exploring possibilities to invest in the championship, a development that follows speculation that Max Verstappen has also held talks with satellite teams about a buyout.

“Things could get even more explosive,” journalist Joel Lischka noted. “Superstar and Verstappen’s favourite rival Lewis Hamilton is also reportedly eyeing the possibility of acquiring a MotoGP team. "Verstappen vs Hamilton in the Motorcycle World Championship? That would be something.”

The talk comes amid major change in the MotoGP paddock, with Liberty Media finalising its takeover of MotoGP’s promoter and ex-Haas boss Günther Steiner heading a group that has acquired Tech3 KTM.

“This racing series is growing, and the arrival of Liberty Media is a very important step,” Steiner said. “They want this to work and they’re going to invest heavily to make it happen. They already have a lot of experience through their expansions in Formula 1.”
