Paul di Resta says that he owes his tyres for his "good result" at the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Force India driver Paul di Resta believes that finishing seventh from 17th on the grid at the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday was a "great result" for his team.

The Scot qualified 17th for the race on Saturday after what he called a "not acceptable" performance, which came a day after finishing the fastest in the first practice.

The 27-year-old admits that his strong finish was largely down to the tyres, after completing 56 laps on the same wheels.

"To finish the race in seventh having started 17th is a great result and a top job by the team," Di Resta told BBC Sport.

"The tyres lasted very well, the lap times were competitive and the team told me it was my decision about when to make my stop.

"As soon as I felt the tyres starting to drop off, I came in. Then it was a case of looking after the super-softs for the final few laps."

Di Resta is currently eighth in the Drivers' Rankings.
