Ferrari's Pat Fry seeks cautious approach

Engineering director Pat Fry suggests that caution may help Ferrari find more pace from their car.

Ferrari engineering director Pat Fry has suggested that Ferrari may have to be cautious in their attempts to close the gap to Red Bull at the front of grid.

The best result that either of the team's drivers managed in Friday's two practice sessions was Felipe Massa's fifth-placed time in the morning, while Fernando Alonso could only manage 10th-fastest in the afternoon.

Fry told reporters: "It was a demanding day of testing in which, once again, we tried to optimise the set-up of the cars to adapt them as well as possible to the characteristics of the track.

"Now we must be cautious, trying to reduce the gap to our closest rivals, while also not underestimating what those behind could do."

Alonso finds himself 77 points behind Sebastian Vettel in the drivers' rankings.
