Fernando Alonso wants a good start in the Indian Grand Prix so he can put pressure on championship leader Sebastian Vettel.

Fernando Alonso has stressed the importance of a quick start in tomorrow's Indian Grand Prix, in order to put the pressure on Sebastian Vettel.

The Ferrari driver has seen a 42-point lead in the driver's championship cut by Vettel, and now trails the German by six points.

The Red Bull driver has also claimed pole position for tomorrow's race, with Alonso back in fifth.

"If [Red Bull] can start, go away and have an easy race, that's the worst news for us," Alonso said.

"Tomorrow we need to overtake McLaren as soon as possible and put pressure on Red Bull. We are not only fighting against Sebastian, but also against [technical director Adrian] Newey, they have finished first or second in the last four races.

"It's not an easy fight, especially on a Saturday but on Sunday we are usually more competitive."

Alonso will start alongside his teammate Felipe Massa, who qualified sixth.
