Police in Montreal make at least 12 arrests due to disruptive behaviour from protestors ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix this afternoon.

Police in Montreal have arrested at least 12 people for disruptive behaviour ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix this afternoon.

A number of students have taken to the streets to protest against rising tuition fees in the North American country and were seen banging pots and pans.

Some of the protesters are said to have described Sunday's race as an obscene display of capitalism.

Police have blocked off an area in the city centre designated as a party zone for F1 fans to avoid further disruption.
