York City club captain Chris Smith has decided to leave Bootham Crescent by mutual consent.
The announcement was made on the club's official website after the League Two outfit's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chesterfield.
The 32-year-old has made 222 appearances for York in two separate spells, scoring nine goals.
Smith also lifted the FA Trophy and the Blue Square Premier PlayOff Trophy at Wembley Stadium during the 2011-12 season.
