Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly show an interest in a second Velez Sarsfield starlet as they prepare to battle a number of European giants.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly identified another Velez Sarsfield starlet as a summer transfer target.

With their Premier League status having been secured for another season, Wolves officials can afford to start to turn their attention to the market.

Already having a reputation for targeting South American talent, most notably from Brazil, the West Midlands outfit have recently been linked with a youngster from Velez Sarsfield.

Defender Thiago Silvero has allegedly emerged as someone who could eventually make the switch to Molineux if the two teams can agree on a transfer fee.

Who is new Wolves target?

As per journalist Uriel Lugt, who was commenting on X, Wolves are among the clubs who are admirers of Alvaro Montoro.

Despite being just 18 years of age, the playmaker has already racked up 36 appearances in the first team at Velez Sarsfield, contributing three goals and two assists.

He has already emerged as one of the stars of the 2025 Copa Libertadores, chipping in with three strikes and one assist from just 119 minutes of football.

Holding a contract until December, it is suggested that a sale over the coming months is inevitable with a wide array of European clubs monitoring the situation.

Wolves only the outsiders?

Although Wolves have shown a commitment to signing players from that part of the world, they have not necessarily used some of them on a regular basis.

Therefore, Montoro may look at the likes of Napoli, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica as more attractive options, unless teammate Silvero moves to Wolverhampton.

At this point of his career, the Argentina Under-20 international has accumulated an acceptable amount of senior football, but he will want that to continue.

While Wolves may require additions in the creative-midfielder department for 2025-26, it is difficult to envisage Montoro earning immediate first-team football in the Premier League.
